Pajak: Leaders In Talent Resourcing And Project Management

“We hand pick from our Talent Team to apply the best well site consultants to our client’s unique project needs,”

Since 1966, Pajak Engineering Ltd., based in Calgary, Alta., has been managing and staffing oil and gas well site projects around the world. Pajak’s Chris Lassu and Barry Rookes explain how the company has pioneered the industry and become the go-to well site partner for clients, from small start-ups to multi-national producers. “Wherever a company is and whatever they need, Pajak will get that job done, and done right,” Mr. Lassu said.

And, they have the experience to back this claim up, having managed and staffed over 3,500 well site projects in almost every play and basin in North America and 40 countries around the world.

Pajak refers to its well site staffing division as the Talent Team and they represent a deep pool of skilled engineering, supervisor, superintendent, geology, and HSE contractors.

“We hand pick from our Talent Team to apply the best well site consultants to our client’s unique project needs,” explains Lassu.

“If a client is drilling in the Monotony, we’ll assign a supervisor who has experience with that play, if a client is working in Africa or the Middle East, we’ll assign a team that understands those remote and sometimes difficult environments.”

The Pajak team can manage and resource any part of a project throughout the lifecycle of a well, from civil construction, to drilling and completions, well site geology, wellborn and pipeline abandonment to lease restoration.

“Our guiding principles include ‘best practice,’ engineering principles and complete regulatory compliance. Quality really is the goal. We don’t cut corners and we apply the same stringent controls and compliance measures that we have in Canada to our other projects around the world.”

“We’ve learned a lot over the last 50 years working in difficult-to-drill areas in Western Canada,“ explains Rookes. “We understand the technology for all types of drilling and completions, we have the experience to successfully manage well control issues and work successfully in HPHT and remote wildcat wells.”

Leaders In Talent Resourcing And Project Management“We’ve pioneered a lot of plays, including the Canadian Arctic,” adds Rookes. “And we know the process for being the strike well in a pool. This expertise has saved our clients millions.”

And it’s also gotten Pajak called onto some of the toughest projects in Canada including high artic remoteness, heli-portable rig access, extended reach directional drilling, extreme orphan well abandonments and legacy well repairs. Pajak also works with cavern and gas storage wells in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Ontario.

When asked what Pajak credits its long-term success and strong client relationships to, Rookes explains that Pajak is guided by a set of principles, developed and implemented for five decades by the company founders and continued by the current ownership.

“Our guiding principles include ‘best practice,’ engineering principles and complete regulatory compliance. Quality really is the goal. We don’t cut corners and we apply the same stringent controls and compliance measures that we have in Canada to our other projects around the world.”

Although the company has experienced unprecedented growth over the last few years and have expanded their service offering to include well site geology and asset management, they remain humble and typically Canadian.

“Pajak is dedicated to maintaining the same level of quality service that built the company to what it is today,“ said Lassu. “We truly believe, we’re only as good as our last job.”
